Why "BlueStone"
A Melbourne heritage cue.
Bluestone is the basalt under Melbourne's old buildings, laneways, and public spaces. Solid, foundational, durable. The opposite of panic-mode IT.
We chose the name on purpose. Strong metaphor for what we sell — security baselines, Essential 8 maturity, the IT roadmap your business stands on.
The founding story
BlueStone was started in early 2026 by an engineering team that had spent a decade across Melbourne MSPs — supporting law firms, accountants, allied health, and not-for-profits.
The pattern was always the same. A 12-person practice would call about a ransomware scare. We'd find no MFA on the principal's phone, no tested backup, no documented response plan. The previous MSP had been billing $1,800/month for "managed IT" for five years.
So we did three things differently:
- Published the prices. Four plans (Lite, Essential, Standard, Secure+). Real numbers. GST inclusive. No "request a quote" theatre.
- Productised the work that matters. Essential 8 ML1 in 90 days, fixed fee, money-back. M365 migration in a fixed price.
- Named every engineer. Photo. Direct email. Personal intro on the kickoff call.

Five things we believe
The principles every engineer learns on day one.
Plain-spoken
Every acronym defined the first time. EDR is "software watching every laptop for ransomware behaviour, not just known viruses." If we can't explain a recommendation in two sentences, we don't understand it well enough to make it.
Named, not anonymous
Every client gets a primary engineer and a backup, with photos and direct emails. Not a 'ticket queue' or 'support@'. You should know who to text on a bad day.
Numbers over adjectives
"$56,600 average incident cost" beats "cyber threats are rising." Every claim we publish has a citation. Every commitment we make has a number you can hold us to.
Calm under pressure
Incident response is a calm voice on the phone, not a war room. Most of what we do is preventing emergencies in the first place — quietly, in the background.
Money-back when we miss
We email back the same business day. If we ever miss it, the next month is free. Refund on the $7,500 E8 uplift if we miss ML1. The risk sits on our side of the table.
